School Trips

SATS  Information

We would like to remind parents and carers that the Year 6 SATs assessments will take place during SATs Week. It is very important that all children are in school and ready to take part in each assessment, so we ask that families avoid booking holidays or taking children out of school during this week.

The SATs timetable is as follows:

• Monday: English Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling – Paper 1: Grammar & Punctuation, Paper 2: Spelling
• Tuesday: English Reading
• Wednesday: Mathematics – Paper 1: Arithmetic, Paper 2: Reasoning 1
• Thursday: Mathematics – Paper 3: Reasoning 2

We appreciate your support in ensuring that children attend school every day during SATs Week. Being present for all of the assessments will help children to feel prepared, supported and confident in completing their tests. Further information about how you can support your child in the lead-up to SATs will be shared with you.

Weekly Homework Expectations

All homework is handed out on a Friday and should be completed and returned by the following Friday. Please see below for our weekly homework expectations and the online platforms your child will be using.

• Reading: Children are expected to read 3 times each week for at least 20 minutes each time. Each reading session should be recorded in your child's reading record. Reading records will be checked by class teachers each week.

• TTRS (Times Tables Rock Stars): Children should complete 3 games on 3 different days of the week. Across the three sessions, children should aim for an average of 1 minute in preparation for their times tables test on Friday.

• Spelling Shed: Children should complete 3 games on 3 different days of the week. This will help them practise and learn their weekly spellings in preparation for their spelling test on Friday.

• LBQ (Learning by Questions): Questions will be set each week and must be completed by the following Friday.

• Paper Homework: Any paper-based homework should be completed and returned in your child's blue homework folder by the following Friday.

Thank you for your continued support in helping your child to complete their homework regularly and on time. Establishing a consistent homework routine will help children to develop their independence, practise key skills and reinforce the learning taking place in school.
