  • Hogwarts comes to Castle Primary! - Fri 06 Mar 2015

    Fri 06 Mar 2015

    As part of the new maths curriculum, children need to understand scale. To aid them with this, year 5 have been designing and building their own 1/10 scale model of a bedroom at Hogwarts.

    We first looked in detail at the 1/24 model of Hogwarts Castle (see photos below) and then we worked out which items we would like in our bedroom, and what their scaled sizes would be.

    They produced some fantastically designed items, all to scale, and even designed some new items of their own.

  • Jamie Crowe - the Castle Flier - Wed 04 Mar 2015

    Wed 04 Mar 2015
    Jamie can run fast.  More importantly, Jamie can run fast over a long distance!  He has completed 3 South East Hants Cross Country School's Competitions.  The course is set out on the East Cosham end of Portsdown Hill - so no easy run! The competition is divided into girls and boys groups.  Generally the girls set off first and then the boys a few minutes later. There is a huge number of competitors from a wide range of schools. So far Jamie has achieved two second places and a fourth.  He is a determined competitor who definitely has his eye on a first place! His photo is on the main page.

  • RED Nose Day 13th March - Mon 02 Mar 2015

    Mon 02 Mar 2015
    Advance warning!!!
    Yes it is RED NOSE day in two weeks time.  It would be lovely - and a record - if we could raise £400 this year.  That is just £1 per child! The theme for this year will be;
    A FUNNY FACE FOR MONEY. (School uniform + a funny face - that includes bad hair if desired...)
    There will be other fund raising ideas running through the day so watch this space.

  • Fareham and Gosport Maths Quizzes - Mon 02 Mar 2015

    Mon 02 Mar 2015
    Early in February an intrepid group of mathematicians set off to Bedenham Primary School for the Fareham and Gosport Maths Quizzes.  In the morning the KS1 team did battle with many other schools in the area and in the afternoon KS2 did the same.  Both teams did very well and in particular the KS2 team who came second to win the Silver Medal (picture on the main page). There was universal enjoyment at completing over 2 hours of solving mathematical problems. A big well done to all the mathematics team members and a special thank you to Mr Belcher for helping with KS2 team transport.  The teams were;
    KS1
    Jake Lothian           Y1
    Amy Papinicoloua   Y1
    Eddie Richards        Y2
    Liam Parsons         Y2

    KS2
    Archie Cromie       Y3
    Evie Kodom          Y4
    Luca Belcher         Y5
